Artillery

We are very lucky to have in our camp two pieces of artillery. Retribution is a 5lb gun, classified as a saker, in a canon style. It sits on a carriage made of white oak, based off of a top deck carriage from the remains of the Mary Rose. We also have Henry Sidney, a bronze swivel gun in a culverin style. This gun is of Spanish origin and dates from approxiamtely 1560. It was last used in the Spanish American War as a garrison gun in the Philipenes.

Tebuchet

No Longer At Bristol Renaissance Faire

As part of the pageantry of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth coming to Bristol, our local artisans have created a replica of a seige engine used by her father Henry VIII. The Trebuchet uses a counterweight system to throw large rocks (or in our scale version melons) large distaces. The goal is to knock down defensive walls and intimidate the opposition.
