Our Opening March Through Town

When the gates of the town of Bristol open for the festival day, many townsfolk are there to greet visitors. The Trayn'd Bande of Bristol marches from the front gate of the town, around the main streets and back into the encampment set up for their muster and training. We use this march to let the people of Bristol know that the festival day has begun

Often as a way to show that the members of the Bandes are from the shire, the Leftenant, Sergeant, and/or Muster Master will march through town calling for a muster. At that time members of the Bandes take leave of their shops and join the march back to camp in order to do their service for Queen and Country.

On a somber occasion you may also see the Trayn'd Bandes memorializing one of their fallen brothers or sisters. This funeral march is done as a sign of great respect and sympathy to those of our famliy that have left us all too soon. The members of the Bandes and those that join us will have their weapons reversed, and be marching in a somber procession.
