Pike Drills and Martial Training

As a military in training we need to practice with the equipment we are to fight with. As such, there are several times during the festival day where members of the Trayn'd Bande can be found practicing with pike, sword, archery, shott, and all sorts of other martial items.

The pike work we do is based off of several sources, including Sir John Smith's 1582 treatise and Jacob DeGehyn's Excersise of Arms. When able to, we stick to these document as rigourously as possible.

Training with shott, is based off of DeGehyn's Exercise of Arms, as well as practical experience with firearm safety.

Our personal martial training times encompass swordwork using practices borrowed from Fiore di Liberi, George Silver, Morozzo, Talhoffer, and others. Our wrestling practices are based almost entirely off of Fiore di Liberi's work. Polearm and other work comes from various historical and stage sources.
